I try to fix my speedometer, as I have a broken glass.
The model is Jaeger one, in K/M scale.
I look that there are a lot of Smiths, build new or refurbished, but all are in MPH.
At this point, the speedometer for Europe is correct expect one from Jaeger for my Dommie in '53 ?

You are right, after small investigation I discover that the clock is not original, very similar but not original.
The right one is Smith S.467/7/L (if I am not wrong, as I take the code from a '52 friend bike).
Do you think with a new clock I need to change also the real wheel mechanism, they are in pair ?

The gear box drive at the rear wheel should be fine, they are usually the same. You can probably get a second hand Chronometric speedo on eBay, changing the dial would be a lot cheaper… if you get a second hand one, make sure the numbers match, at least the small 4 digit number (1548, 1600 or similar) which is the revolutions of the wheel per mile and relates to your particular wheel diameter. You might need to do a bit of cleaning and oiling, which is fairly straightforward, see http://www.wdbsa.nl/Jaeger-Chronometric-Overhaul.pdf

If you are located on the continent your Jaeger speedo might be a later addition to convert the bike from mph to km/h, so it may not be original. Assuming it is a Chronometric clock with a screw-on bezel, the Jaeger should be very similar to a Smiths clock, as Smiths bought the patent from Jaeger, hence all fittings, screws and dimensions on the Smiths Chronometric are metric. If you want to ‘convert’ to the Smiths look, you can simply get a suitable replacement dial on ebay - there is an ebay seller called ‘nortondominator-2007’ in Argentina who does excellent reproduction dials of all types.
