Electra Centre Stand

Forums

Can anyone point me to a picture of the Electra center stand mounted on the bike itself?  Both up and down positions would be appreciated.

I cannot figure how all that goes together.

Many thanks.

Ron,

Below are some photos as you requested. The first 2 are with the stand down, the last is with the stand up. Unfortunately the top of the spring link piece is hidden by the oil pipes. The link piece pivots on the smaller diameter of the gearbox's lower retaining nut head. This is the diameter that fits into a receiver on the frame's U channel. The hexagon on the nut retains the link piece.

Hope this is clear.

Hi David, looking at your pics for the centre stand, I was impressed by your oil filter conversion.

Perhaps you could give us some more pics and details on this in a new thread? I'm sure other L/W owners would be interested too.

Cheers, Mike.

Michael,

The filter came with the bike so I can take no credit. I can supply another picture below to show more of the mounting, and another to show the return pipe to the tank. Hope that helps. The filter itself is a Commando spare from NOC.

I did the same oil filter conversion on my Jubilee and it looks just like David's photo. I bought the parts from NOC spares. However I tried I could not use the bracket supplied to get the right orientation for the filter head so I made my own as a simple but sturdy right angle. This bolts to the centre stand stop just as in David's photo using longer bolts in the original position. The filter head bolts to the top of the bracket. If I recall correctly, the only other job was to extend the oil pipes to take account of their re-routing to the filter. The bracket need to be long enough for the filter to be clear of the centre stand when it is in the 'up' position.

Thanks.  The pics were exactly what I needed.  Although my center stand looks different, I did manage to get it mounted.  Problem now is that it takes two men and a boy to lift it onto the stand.  I'm thinking the stand I have may be a bit too long.

At your convenience, would you measure you stand and tell me how long it is, before I start sawing?

Many thanks

BTW, mine came with the filter conversion too.  Pretty much the same deal

Ron,

I measure it as 24cm to the nearest mm or so.

Welp.  That explains the pit crew requirement to get the bike on the center stand.  Mine stand is 27.5 cm in length.

Time to start looking for my hacksaw.

Again, many thanks.

Ron,

Your mention of a hacksaw compelled me to check my measurement. It's as I said.

I can get my bike on the stand by standing on the tang on the stand, the one sticking out beyond the exhaust so you can get it down, and pulling on the mudguard support tube. It doesn't take much effort.

Good luck, David
