Lightweight ignition parts

With so many people going electronic on their Lightweights I can't help wondering what they are doing with their old mechanical parts. I used to love fettling the contact breakers, back plates and bob weights etc to get my 250 running well. If anyone out there has half decent ignition parts that they are thinking of ditching, I'd be only to happy to cross their palms with a few coppers.

You must be a masochist Kevin! But saying that we all fidle with old bikes so why not the ignition? But if the ignition especially on a twin wanders on one cylinder then the life of other parts starts to suffer, like valves, even pistons with holes! Hmm

I remember the serious improvement in the Commando when it went electronic ignition. Prior to that the early Lucas bobweights and points (1970Commnado) never retained ignition timing more than 1000 miles and doing 500 mile weekends made ignition timing very tedious!

Never mind a Commando,I can't think of anything much more tedious than doing a 500 mile weekend on a Jubilee, never mind worrying about its bobweights. Nortons weren't the only bikes to suffer with ignition problems. Riding my C15 around the Peak District in the 70s, the distrbututor exploded. Game over! I found that if I was really careful with the Jubilee ignition and ensured that each mounting plate was dead flat and the screws were good, the timing didn't shift. The worst problem were the springs controling the bobweights. You also needed to ensure that the points closed dead flat against each other. It all took some serious patience, quite a lot of fettling and many cups of coffee.

The Distributor on the Dommies was only a little better and could suffer  the same issues with  added  poor  access.
