Kickstart

Forums

Hi, Just bought a 99 that needs a little work. The kickstart hits the exhaust pipe under the gearbox. Is this a common problem or will another type of kickstart solve the problem.

Also, which Handlebars are correct for a 1960 Dominator 99. Straight or slight rise.

A common issue,  The orriginal  std KS is a non swivel type that has a good offset  ,however some  replacement folding types have less offset  and pattern replacement pipes  can have an imperfect line. You may have a bit of spare clearance between silencer and frame tube that will allow the pipes to be pulled in. Orriginal pipes also had a slight kick up under the box .not usually  replicated  in pattern stuff. The bars fitted to the std Dommy had a 2 1/2" rise. and were drilled and tapped for the dipswitch/horn screws. Pattern pipes and silencers sometimes needed a dent to clear the frame tube.

Thanks Robert. I have had a good look & see I have aftermarket Silencers, fatter than the proper ones which also pushes the pipe out further from the frame. I will have to have a think.

Thanks Carl, When I have got it back together, I will take it off my Commando & try it.
