Electra Gearbox Sprocket Seal

Forums

Can the Gearbox sprocket seal be removed from outside without going into the gearbox?

I'm referring to the seal on the output shaft that is directly behind the front sprocket.

Thanks.

One way to remove the seal is to drill a small hole in it, fit a self tapping screw and pull out the seal, as if you were drawing a tooth. Drill two holes opposite each other for more effect. Works the same on the crank seal behind the engine sprocket. To refit your new one, use a box spanner (like a socket, but longer). Works a treat.

Trouble is the case is often punched to retain the seal, that renders it no longer circular and difficult to get the seal in, same with main bearing seal.
