What is the correct period handle bar horn/dip switch for a 1957 International 500cc?
Good question

Lucas dip switch
Lucas spares list no. CE 828B for 1957 Nortons lists the dip switch (Model 25SA) as part no: 31563A. A chrome plated combined horn and dip switch.

Photograph of 57 handlebars
Thanks Ian. After searching today I came across this photograph of a 57 Inter which clearly shows the 25SA horn/dip.

Direct fixing to bars...
The early 50’s handlebars came with a shaped plate fixed to them with tapped holes to receive that switch. (You can get them to clamp on also). That picture looks like a resto machine so may not be authentic. cheers

A good question, Paul, and one I have asked myself in recent days for my Domi 99 (1958). I know it is not an Inter (or a 57), but they might have had the same switchgear and I am sure someone will put us right with original fitments if not. The technical literature I have is silent on the matter of the horn/dip switch type although it seems to have lots of info on every other topic.
The current item on the Domi looks like this: https://www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk/c-1-home/c-82-motorcycle-parts/c-153-motorcycle-switches/c-189-handlebar-switches/p-309-replica-lucas-horn-dip-switch.
Let us let the experts put us right...or I might just get on and replace it with this type anyway (the dip switch function has never worked while the bike has been in my ownership).
