Suspension set up advice

Hello all, a friend of mine recently bought a 961 cafe reacer from a dealer but complained about the handling (we think it may have been set up for a bigger rider}. My mate is 5' 10" tall and 11 stone. As a proud owner of a 961 sport for the last 2 1/2 years I know how good these bikes handle.

Could anyone please help with some suspension set up advice so we can get a base for the set up.

Regards,

Chris.

I don't own a 961, but I would have thought first port of call would be back to the supplying dealer. As these are new bikes, they should set it up for him. If they are incapable or unwilling to do so, then I am sure a call to customer services at Norton would provide assistance or advice. Failing all that, standard procedure for setting up suspension should be applied, as the criteria are essentially the same for all bikes. Here is a guide.

The manual should give standard settings, as a reference point. It may well be prudent to go back to those settings initially.

Out of interest, in what way does he find the handling deficient?

Cheers. Ian

The standard set up is for a rider and full gear weighing 90 kg.

Your friend is 70 kg so would not be far off 90 kg fully knitted.

Do you have the owner's manual? if not I can give you the standard settings.
