Remember the slotted piston,=? The one to avoid-they spell disaster. Has anybody got one in in good or damaged condition or a picture of one so the we can have a picture for the Dommy Service notes please? We need to see the slot and or the cracks.

Hello now expanding front and back wall hepolite pistons have a reenforced boss round the gudgeon pins So there for are the stronger ones there machine cut in the oil way groove so the front and back piston skirts can expand to give piston control when the engine get to its runing tempreture and that's why they where made this way .yours Anna j

Alan. These are pictures of the slotted Heppolites from my 500cc 88SS. I don't know if these ever caused problems but the pictures might be of some use, even if only to say "Don't worry about this type" (if they are safe of course).
