Sleeve gear, lightweight

Forums

Just been having a look at the sleeve gear, in good shape but there may be a time it needs replacing due to excess wear.  The only serviceable components are the bushes the gear rotates on.  Worn gear teeth cannot be "fixed",

That leaves the diameter the roller bearing runs on.  Has anyone worked out a way of restoring that?  I can think of a couple of ways that might work, one of them expensive, the other cheap.

Anyone attempted a repair to the bearing surface?

My Navigator has what I believe is the most common gearbox, pre engine number 106838.  Looking at the parts drawings the late type gearbox appears to have a separate inner race, that is to say not integral with the sleeve gear.  (I did ask if anyone knew the size of this bearing in a previous post, no reply).  I would like to see if it would be possible to use one of those bearings?
