On the road again....

Forums

Just taken the ES2 out for its first road test - about 4 miles on local roads. I was very pleasantly surprised. Loads of power, no coughing or spluttering, slick gear change, rock-steady handling. Brakes pretty poor, clutch dragging a bit but otherwise very happy. I only took it to 50 (suburban roads) but there was loads left......

Funnily enough I seem to have George Phillips' mag chain cover oil drip......

But I will live with it for the time being. I plan a few local jaunts till Autumn to assess what work is needed then I can address everything at my leisure.

The stand's actually a Kawasaki item (cost all of £7 from ebay) with a home brewed bracket. It does seem to be very stable although it could do with being 1/2" higher on the mounting as it holds the bike a bit vertical.

Its principal function is to help with mounting / dismounting as my knees aren't what they were. If I leave the bike anywhere for any length of time it'll be on the centre stand.

Very nice Ian - I'm sure you will enjoy it - I have put nearly 2000 miles on mine after a lengthy total rebuild . Best I've gotten out of it is 65 mph - very buzzy and getting unhappy at that point . I balanced the crank at 66% . It is real delight at 50-55mph though.

Best wishes for many happy and safe miles ! Richard

well spotted.....This was just a trial fit. I got the rubbers from RGM and they're excellent quality.
