can anyone recommend a good reboring service near to sheffield as my barrels may need to go to the next bore but the local reborers just seem to do car engines and i would like to have the work done by someone who know what to do and will do a good job.
thankyou Karl

Try RE Arnett, Kelham Street, Doncaster on 01302 323931 - they are a traditional engineers & I have taken stuff there for over 40 years - took my 850 barrels there a couple of years ago for +40 rebore - good job done as they are on the bike now - no discernable oil consumption - very reasonable charges - Alan

I have used Arnett several times and consider them to be a good, reputable firm and highly skilled.
However I have one concern about using them for rebores. I am no expert in this but I understand that when reboring car engines (which Arnett are accustomed to doing) they set up using the top of the blockand the boring is then done perpendicular to that. However, motorcycle barrels are best done setting up from the base of the barrel. Not sure if this is correct, could someone advise please?

If Stoke-on-Trent isn't too far you could try Dave Rushton Engines. www.daverushton.co.uk. I lost confidence in a local re-borer after problems. Have spoken to Dave who says after boring/honing cylinders are within 0.0002" ovality. I will be getting a spare barrel rebored soon.
