Re: 16H oil pipe ?

Forums

Hi guys

I've just removed the chaincase from my ex wd 16H to investigate a new noise.

I noticed what looks like a copper pipe fitting with the pipe missing.

I've attached a photo (I hope)

Is it just a gravity drain or something else and maybe linked to the noise I've just noticed

Thanks for any advise

Stuart

Hi Stuart it's the crankcase breather not sure what is supposed to attach to it as I've got es2 and Inters but would imagine it should be a valve with a ball inside to release pressure when the piston travels . Then a copper tube . On my inter The copper tube goes just above the gearbox spocket to lubricate.

hope I'm right as it's the first time I've given advice. But I'm sure someone will blow me out off the water if I'm wrong.

cheers Ian

Mine is dull-chromed and seems original. It may have become misshapen.

From memory it is a 1/4" pipe with a short length of 5/16" flared at one end soldered on.

The ball valve probably has an effect on oil tightness as it ought to be helping to create a vacuum in the crankcases.
