Primary cover grommet hole

Forums

Thinking of putting a hole in cover to access clutch pushrod adjuster, case already thin there from i imagine a previously loose clutch. Anybody know the hole diameter to accept the genuine Norton grommet. Thanks

Hi Peter,

I’ve just measured my one and it’s 38mm diameter. Not sure if they’re all the same size or not - maybe someone  else will confirm my size or offer up another one. My cover if freshly painted in two coats of 2k paint but I don’t think the paint would change the sizing much.

Hope that helps

Tony

Might be an idea to order a grommet and measure that, to ensure the hole is sized to give a nice tight fit. That's what I did. HTH Alan.

Alan's answer is a good one. For reasons unknown, a new 'genuine' grommet isn't as tight in the hole on mine as the original was, necessitating a thin bead of silicon in the slot to stop the resulting oil weep. As to what size, I don't want to remove it to measure it as it will start the leak thing again. Sorry!
