Plunger dual seat

Forums

Hi I've been looking at putting a dual seat on my plunger norton which will make longer journeys more comfortable. More wriggle room.

I have seen in photos an aftermarket seat in the day.(Britax?) Is there anyone out there still making them or if a seat base is around for a pattern.

I was looking at a BSA plunger dual seat with the thought of modifying the mounts?

Anyone done this?

I have a full length seat on my plunger norton. I believe it to be off a bsa but canât really tell. It does offer a better ride for long distance but sits fairly high as it has to hold line from the topof rear mudguard through to cut out in tank for the ânoseâ. A sprung saddle sits lower... will post a picture of it tomorrow.

Hi Paul

i have a 1949 plunger ES2. My wife decided that she wanted to do the Irish National Rally with me three years ago, and I picked up an old plunger BSA A7 seat (£10), which, together with a standard B series/gold star rear seat bracket from Gerge Prew, fitted a treat.....and sat nicely in line into to rear indent in the tank. Two strips of steel from B&Q made the front brackets and the seat flowed in line with the tank, not sitting above it, great for my 5'4''! Have refitted my spring saddle for comfort until the boss wants another trip. I road to the ' Irish' from Guildford last year and did the rally at 150miles a day for four days and rode home, using the sprung three cornered saddle...very comfy.

Yes that is the sort of thing I was getting at. My single seat sits higher than that. On purpose because I'm tall and it suits my riding.

If its not too late, I have a Feridax seat in good condition. It looks very much like a Vincent seat. It came fitted to my '52 plunger framed model 7 but I am fitting a single saddle so I dont need it. For sale if its of interest. e-mail me please if interested d_colville_2000@yahoo.com
