The usual way of working this out is to pound the kickstart fruitlessly for 10 minutes and then swap the plug leads over and be amazed when the bike starts first kick.

I've never actually noticed it written where each plug lead ought to go. I don't think I would worry as long as the bike actually ran. I'm happy to be a pragmatist. There's a lot to be said for single cylinder engnes.

The one furthest away from the crankcase (right) goes to the left side plug. This is stamped "1" on a BTH magneto, no marking on a Lucas.
