job for this weekend.
When I undo the throttle I won't end up with pieces disappearing into space never to be found again? Is it a straightforward process? Any tricks?
thanks

I secure mine with a loop of lockwire under the adaptor taken to a loop round the handlebar.
Some faff when you want to fiddle with the twistgrip, but a lot less faff than trying to find the adaptor on the garage floor … or in the hedge.

Thanks.
At the top of the twist grip there's a screw which comes out and squirted spray in. Now releases correctly. Could also loosen the cable adjuster enough to send oil down the cable.

Friction damper
Some throttles had a friction damper device, basically a strip of spring steel. Tightening that screw pushed down the blade onto the drum of the throttle, increasing the resistance.

... to lose the stepped adaptor that connects most throttle cables to the twistgrip drum. It's there so that you can remove it to take the tension off the throttle return spring but has a habit of pinging off into the distance.
I always make my own from a short length of 5/16" stainless.
