Blimey Tommy, I didn't realise Google was broken! ð Have you tried Feked for the pipe, they list one I think? Who have you tried for the shims? RGM, Andover or Norvil?

Hi Tommy,

I got my exhaust pipe from Armour motor products, they list one in their catalog.

If your pipe is similar to my 1957 ES2 then neither Feked or Armours have stock as I have been trying both for the last 4 months, I am now having one made locally.

Just curious here, since you are going to fit cam shims, what clearance are you aiming for Tom? I generally just drift one of the cam bushes either in or out to get a little running clearance.

hi. on the inlet-cam-[ mag-drive] cam i pull +push her for movement i only want a couple of thou-movement.. ON the exhaust cam there is no way off checking it with the engine now built up ,should of been done before , yes ,but what happens if you change the timing-chest-or cams as i have done ..easy-peezie what i do is take the spark plug +clutch- primary chain off ,turn her over at the drive -engine-sprocket by hand ,nice and free add a thin shim and nip her up slowly -turning the sprocket CHECKING the freeness. is ok. take the timing chest off and do the same again adding 1 shim at a time .. when it starts getting hard to turn over take if off add up all the shims ..if it is a big amount it's probably the bush so would renew it and start again. [ eg .if she's free at 5 tho and tight at 6 thou i would put a 3 thou shim in .. doing all this on a cold engine.. i still can't get hold of shims. they would be 24-MM OR 25-MM. O.D. X 16-MM I.D. @ 2/3/5/ THOU.. EVER SEEN A HAND-LEVER-START ON A MOTOR-CYCLE // I SEEN A PICTURE OF ONE ON A 16H. EX ARMY-BIKE. tommy.

'Unity Equip' list the downpipe and they make them on the premises. I think it will be where I get mine.

He may have done, what I can tell you since my last visit is that they have moved from Rochdale to Chesterfield.

Unity have an e-mail address, Bantam John never had time for such things!

Bantam John has been known to make acquisitions, for example, he bought Martin Bratby's piston stock.

I've not had a prob with him, he found me an es2 piston 40 thou over, bit expensive but then they don't turn up very often!
