Add that to the list of spares the club should be having manufactured, along with wideline rear mudguards and a host of 50's singles parts.

This has gone on for far too many years.

Hi Brian, I look forward to seeing another DL in use. I have some spare parts that will sometime include a battered (but reworkable) shell. These are very thin on the ground and there are some very similar almost correct shells from other makes. If you need any DL info feel free to ask. Where are you based?.

it is obviously the case that the Club cannot commission every part that individual members may require.Whist we need to meet, wherever practicable, members parts requirements and the two parts identified by Neil may well be ones for which there would be sufficient demand to justify the spares scheme seeking to provide them, it is not simple. First of all we need to ensure that there is sufficient demand. Secondly it is necessary to identify whether there are alternative sources and finally we have to consider whether parts can be made at a viable price.

I suggest that members genuinely interested in obtaining a particular part write to Ian Somerville (details in Roadholder) so that the scheme has some idea of what it may be viable for us to produce.

What about a "wish list" so members can enter the part they want; you can gauge the level of interest then get some commitment, a sample and a quote from a manufacturer. If nothing else, a "bulk" purchase may lead to some discount.

Just a thought...

Hi Brian, It will be a while as I have to paint the new shell and fit it with all the shenanagins that goes with the PSR8 . This bike is my main rider so I want to make the swop as painless as possible. The shell on the other post would be a better bet ,also in better condition.Could be a Dutch auction!!.

As has been said, these shells are hard to get. But they were also used on some Panther models - which is where I got mine for my 1960 ES2 - might be worth a try when searching on E-bay and the like.

Cheers,

Ian.

The bracket is a steering stop ,the DL ones were heart shape and bolted to the gusset plate with a boss that fits into the yoke. They are not as strong as the later solid ones fitted to 650ss and Atlas. RGM part 18769 I think.

Add Wideline grab/ lifting handles to the list including wideline rear mudguards, Dommie headlamp shells and pre F/bed centre stand springs.

Why has the club not commissioned a batch of these parts years ago? It may be not commercially viable for businesses such as RGM or Andover to have these made at their own expense but this is surely what the club is about, even to put one more Norton back on the road.

Back in 2010, Lionel V was talking about making wideline lifting handles for the two part mudguard. Did he do it? I can't see anyone else who are making any.

Is it possible to adapt the slimline available handles and if so, is there a drawing?

Come on, cut the BS, we can do better than this.
