Mike, I recently aquired a 1936 ES2 and am in the early process of the restoration. I am missing a number of parts and am authoring a list of the parts I need to locate. Can I forward this list to you for assistance in finding a source? I am in the US but will gladly have parts shipped from the UK if available. Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Hi Paul, I just came across your post while researching my own ES2 issues. I'm half way through a build of a 1936 ES2. I got a job lot which included the frame and a LOT of spare parts with the aim of selling what I don't need at the end of the build. If you were to send me a copy of the list you are creating, I will have a look to see if I have anything you need to spare and let you know the price and condition.

All the best

Aled, Thanks, Ill send the list when completed to your hotmail address. Any help would be appreciated. Since both our machines are 1936 there may be information we can share. Among the items I'm missing are all four spindles from the front girder forks. I could have new ones machined, but without any old ones, I will have a hard time making drawings to make the new ones from. I know they are 1/2" diameter and what the threads are on the ends, but that is all. If you happen to have yours and they are not installed on the bike yet, maybe you could make sketches of the three designs. That would help out a lot! Good luck on your project! Hi Paul,

My forks have already been stripped down and re-built I'm affraid. And I seem to have taken pictures of every part except the spindles! Thogh I do have one or two images that might be of use to you which I'm happy to send (one of which I've attached. I'll also have a look to see if I happen to have any more of these spindles (though I don't recall coming across any so far).

Kind regards

More images attached.

From what I can see and remember one side has a thread, followed by a non threaded area both of which are slightly thinner than the main shaft. The other side has the end squared off (to get a spanner on it) before a longer threaded section the same width as the main shaft.

I did source some good detailed instructions for assembling the forks too which I'll try to dig out if you need.

Hope that helps,

Aled

Thanks Aled!

Yes the photos help! IUsed All-Thread to piece my forrks together temporarily, and seem to have a pretty good idea of how all the parts fit. One part I do not have is the crown nut on the steering "TEE" under the steering damper knob. I measure the thread as 1 1/8 BSF. Your phot shows the nut which is greatly appreciated. I found a nut like yours in with all the parts but the ID thread is too large in diameter. Your assemly instructions may well come in handy, so if you find them, please send along. You can also send me E-Mail directly at: paulabbott489@yahoo.com. Thanks for the help!

Paul
