Navigator Colors

Forums

Hi Andy

Can you please help with finding out the original colour scheme for my 1964 Std Navigator first reg was 12/05/1964 and the log book says "Black" the bike has a black frame chrome tank, chromeoil and Battery box, chrome frontmudguard and the headlamp shell was also chrome but now painted black the back mudguard was at one time metallicblue then painted black.

a bit of a mismatch of colours and finishes and I would like to put it back to original colours.

Hi Steve, my May 1964 Std Navigator is unrestored so cosmetically as it came out of the factory. The frame and rear mudguard supports are gloss black and the petrol tank, oil tank, battery box and mudguards are what Norton called 'polychromatic blue' (the standard colour for all Navigators from Oct 63 onwards I believe) and the headlight and front mudguard supports are chrome. Chrome mudguards were an optional extra. Photo attached if that helps!

Thanks Steve, it has a lovely patina so I'm going to keep it as well maintained as I can and not restore it until I have to! The only deviation from standard I have allowed myself is a 12v conversion and electronic ignition which has transformed it so well worth the expense. Good luck with your restoration, a good Navigator is a joy to own and ride and yours has the later gearbox so the best of the breed!
