Mystery fitting search

Forums

I have been looking and having no luck in finding, the following fitting assemblyfor my 1961 Model 50:

At the bottom of the distributor chaincase (not the timing case) there is a brass fitting that is for draining oil that might accumulate in that area. It is supposed to be comprised of three items, none of which are illustrated:

pn: 16590A oil drain pipe for timing cover

pn: 10995 nut for oil drain pipe

pn: 10263 union for timing cover oil drain pipe

I found one source in the USA that describes the union as 1/8X1/8BSP

It appears to me that one end of the union is threaded 1/8BSP and the other end is a female taper fitting that takes a 1/8" 45 degree???? insert that is held on by the nut.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these assemblies? Without it any oil present will drip directly onto the hot exhaust pipe. And USA compression fittings are not compatible.

Thanks

OK, I got the fitting figured out. Apparently Triumph uses the same fitting on an oil line somewhere.

The Triumph pn for the nut is 708110

For the tubing end I bought a Triumph pn: 70-8108 It is about 3" long which is too short so I sweated the end off and soft soldered it to a piece of the 1/8" id tubing that I scrounged out a local dealers junk pile.

Can anyone tell me how the drain tubing should be routed? Is the tube routed between the exhaust pipe and the frame rail or is it routed between the frame rail and the engine cradle? And how long does it stick down?

Thanks

Mike
