model 19 cylinder head bolts

Forums

would anyone have the faintest clue where to source cylinder head bolts for a 1957 model 19, they are longer than the ES2 bolts and appear to be about as common as hens teeth.

cheers

What is the difference between a

"cylinder head bolt"

and

"cylinder head sleeve nut" ?

Is this one of those English-english/American-english confusions?

My understanding (English-English): a bolt has an external thread, a nut has an internal thread. A sleeve nut is an extra long nut that can reach the end of a stud recessed below the top surface of a component. It has a shoulder so that the clamping action still takes place on the top surface.

Other people, even on the eastern shores of the Atlantic, may have a different interpretation!

Hi John,

It's good to know the sleeve nuts are available but with postage and VAT that's £100 a set.... OUCH.

Hi again John,

I was talking today to Will Horgan of www.stainlessclassics.co.uk who makes cylinder head sleeve nuts for ES2 and he can make 19s ones to your requirement at very much less than most other suppliers. He also makes other s/steel fittings for Nortons.
