Have attached a photo of the long stroke Manx crankcase including the alloy bearing cover. I have searched the internet for fitment of this item but with no success. One suggestion is that it would be threaded and maybe bonded. Any thoughts would be very welcome. Thank you Ron.

Hi Jonathan I got the engine as a stand alone so I have no idea what it came from. I have tried to find details on the internet as to how that alloy cover may be attached but have been unsuccessful. I have attached a photo showing the inner side of the crankcase. All I can think is that it maybe a modification as I know this did happen during the racing life of these engines. Thank you Ron.

Looks like a modification…
Looks like a modification to fix a loose bearing and add an outrigger bearing for extra support. Rudge Engines have a very similar design .

Hi Robert I think this could be a possibility as bearing housings are fitted to both crankcase halves. The mag side housing and bearing fell out after about 10 minutes heating in the oven. Thank you for your reply. Ron

Hi Mike just had a response from Steve at JAL as follows
The outer alloy boss is threaded and screws onto a sleeve (also the outer bearing race)which goes all the way through the drive side case?
Thank you for that contactindeed to everyone who has replied to my original enquiry Ron
