Mahindra looking at Norton?

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet. But there is a story doing the rounds that Mahindra (very large Indian conglomerate) is looking at both Norton and BSA.

Tata seem to be doing ok with Jaguar/Land Rover/Range Rover.

They could certainly transform Norton if they chose to, although in what direction...

Please Stuart Garner I hope Mahindra is only looking. Too many British companies are being bought up. What happens to Norton then!

Umm, they get a massive cash injection. Sort out the lingering issues with the current range. Invest in new models and develop the global network needed to put Norton back on the world stage. Laughing

The name Norton like Triumph, Lotus, Aston Martin, Jaguar etc will always be considered British regardless of who owns them. A large chunk of Triumph production is now in Thailand, yet Triumph is still considered British.

Relax Roger, there's nothing sinister here. Just a bit of news doing the rounds and a few different view points being discussed. This is a forum after all!

When I worked in Automotive I must have gone through 4 or 5 takeovers and many more reorganisations. Not many takeovers were for the better, and the one takeover we all thought before hand was a match made in heaven was an absolute disaster within 2 years. Based on these experiences its pointless trying to predict the best way forward.

What Ho

Dan Field is quite right. Does anyone believe that S. Garner actually cares for anything except money. People set up businesses for profit not altruism.

Always the joker Andy - good one! You're quite right of course. If I had a few million burning a hole in my pocket I for one can't think of a more profitable industry to invest in! Simon Garner must be laughing all the way to the bank!

What I don't understand is why everyone isn't doing it?

Good find Rene, interesting read. Link here http://www.motorfreaks.nl/report/interview/interview-stuart-garner/visie.html

In Dutch but most internet browsers will translate it into english well enough. The man is clearly hell bent on making millions and is an utter disgrace... ;)
