can anyone tell me the tollerance/slack in the magneto drive chain for my 1951 model 7 dominator, my book tells me it should be 1/8th of an inch for the cam drive chain but does not mention the magneto drive chain and to be honest the amount of adjustment in the magneto fixing bolts is very little so i am guessing that this is not critical ? terry

Attachment is from Haycraft manual which tends to be fairly accurate with most engine data. It deals with 1955 bikes on but I don't believe anything changed with regard to timing chain tensions. I have generally set both the magneto and the camshaft chains at betweenat 1/8" &3/16".
