Long Roadholder assembly

I have got Model 19R with the long roadholder forks on which I find it really difficult to push the assembled leg stanchion up into the top yolk taper. I know there is a special tool to pull them up, but does anybody have any handy tips how this can be done without the special tool ?

Hi i have used ratchet straps before now to help pull the sliders up to help with the spring compression side of things. the only thing i can think of to pull the stanchions up is use an old metal stanchion top nut cut the spanner part of it off drill it straight through run some threaded bar through it and put a nut either side and tighten it up better still weld it on. making sure its long enough for what you want bend a 90 on the end to make a handle . safety at all times .Baz
