Canada calling. The kick starter shaft on my lay down Model 7 gearbox has two grooves which would appear to be for o ring seals. Checking the gearbox diagramme no seals are shown. Should there be a seal? Thanks for your help.

They were not intended for seals, however I have successfully fitted a 1mm O-ring to the outer groove on several boxes which, in conjunction with the cork seal on the ratchet end, seems to prevent oil seepage down the shaft. It may be necessary to increase the size of the groove slightly.
