kick start ratio

Forums

My '55 ES2 (stroke 100mm) is fitted with a Model 77 (stroke 72.6mm) gearbox. Does this mean the the kick start gear ratio (swing to piston movement) will be wrong for the longer stroke engine. Could this be why starting from cold is temperamental? ie I don't get enough velocity on the piston. George

Dont remember any difference when I replaced the Model 77 gear box with the correct one on my 52 ES2. Is your carb set up properly? I have a Micarb off an Indian Enfield on mine and it started 1st kick today after standing two weeks. lovely day in Cambridgeshire so took full advantage! John
