Jubilee foot rest rubbers

Just received some footrest rubbers from the spares shop, the flat type. Part number 16249 plate G65.

The problem I have is the round hole in the rubbers are 5/16" My footrests are a square 3/4". There is no way I can get my square footrests into a round small hole. Are the rubbers correct, do I have the wrong footrests. The picture for the rear footrest do show a flat rubber.

I just bought footrests and rubbers for my Electra which I believe is the same as the Jubilee The number you give is for the back footrests the number should be SS04 D6 22020 even so they are tight and may need some WD 40  Bryon

John, there are two types of rear foot rest rubbers - the flat ones which are for earlier bikes and the round ones which are for Jubilee, Navigator and Electra post 1964, if my flagging memory is correct my late Navigator rear foot rests are squarish and sound like yours.  The NOC shop part number is SS02 C1_042569 and they are £3.75 + VAT.   

I am assuming that you aren't thinking of the main foot rests which are 5/8" - if you are they are also available from NOC shop part number - SS04 D6_22020I at £5.50 + VAT.   I use a light smear of red rubber grease to ease them on.

Hi Bryon.

 All the pics show flat rubbers for the rear pegs, which I received today but with a round 5/16" hole. My rear foot pegs are 3/4" square and there is no way I can get them into a round 5/16" hole. Can not remember what the original rubbers were like, its many years since I took them off. Have I got the correct rear pegs.

My front pegs are round and I managed to get the front rubbers onto the these.

I just looked at the invoice, part number D4 16249 these flat rubbers went on the back rests ok not sure of the rest size as rubbers are tight on.  Bryon

Picture of Jubilee rear footrest and new rear flat rubber. Do all lightweights have the same rear footrest as in the picture. Obviously I,m not going to get this rubber to fit, yet according to the parts list its the correct one.

Hi John,

With so many changes by Norton/AMC to the lightweight model range over it's 7 years it is difficult to definitely say what the correct footrests for your Jubilee are. You don't tell us the year of manufacture.

I agree with Bryon that yours are different from the Electra rear footpegs.

I know the flat pillion footrest rubbers were fitted to early lightweights as Nick suggests.

I know first hand that when not properly tightened the footrests fall off and any footrests with a 3/8 or 10 mm hole can be fitted in it's place. Just like yours in the photo.

The proper footrests are waisted to allow the rear brake rod to pass straight between rear brake arm and brake lever without fouling footrest.

Glad you found some rubbers to fit your footrests. They were not fitted on your bike when it was new. Now you know what the footrests should look like, you might find some similar waisted ones on that auction site if the brake rod fouls.

Your footrests are very different to mine. Does anyone know what bike my footrests came from.

Ive had the bike for over fifty years and it came with the footrest as in the picture!
