Jubilee coil order.

Which coil fires which cylinder or does it not matter.

Thanks

I am not sure if I understand correctly the question. On the factory fitted ignition system you have two sets of ignition points and two separate ignition coils so you need to know which set of points fires which coil when setting the ignition timing. So yes it does matter but you can swop over wires and re-time accordingly if you wish. It does not operate on a wasted spark.

Thanks Patrick.

I was looking at the wiring diagram. It shows two maroon wires going to the coils from the points. It looks like the bottom points go to the bottom coil on the drawing (the left coil) if both cylinders fire at the same time then it should not matter which ht cable goes to what cylinder, is that correct.

Thanks

Hello John,

The cylinders do not fire at the same time so you have to ensure that the correct HT lead is to the correct cylinder. It will not run if the plug leads are the wrong way but easy enough to swop over.

The original wiring (two maroon wires) was as you say but things get changed around over the last 58 odd years so best to check the wiring with a meter first or just swop the plug wires around if it doesn't fire up first time.

Patrick.
