International leaking Base Gasket

Forums

My Model 30 International engine was rebuilt a few months back but has now developed a serious oil leak from the base gasket.

Looking through a couple of other forums it would appear that Norton owners have been assembling engines without a base gasket using instead a Permatex Gray seal, and I'm interested to find out what the NOC members thoughts were??

Silence...... I never heard of the "Permatex" solution. I run with a paper gasket and don't have any issue. Not sure how you would confirm the oil flow was not impeded to the back of the piston feeds from the cross bolt....

Assuming it was built and torqued down evenly and been running a few heat cycles does it need re-torquing? How serious and are you sure its from the base? Whats your crankcase pressure like?

Not a common complaint on this motor...
