Hello all,
Time to assemble the handlebars on my 1948 International , and I find no good photo of an original installation. From various sources it appears that on the left, from the end, we have valve lifter lever, clutch lever and magneto lever. On the right , from the end, are throttle, brake lever and air control lever. But, - is the valve control lever really outboard of the clutch lever? - where do the horn button and dipper switch go? Certainly there are many workable arrangements, and restored bikes show an impressive creativity here. But it's just as easy to follow the works' policy, so I'd rather do that - if I can only figure out what it was.
Does anyone have definite information?
Cheers,
Dave

Attached are scans from "Maintenance Manual and Instruction Book" for OHV models (early & mid-fifties). Should be similar to your '48 Inter.

I have a more up-to-date (up to 1956) version of that, Ian, but apart from Roadholder forks it's much the same and not quite so clear. So I agree that David's is probably similar - provided the lifter does not hit the tank! George

The location of the valve lifter may depend upon which type it is. If it's original (quite small) it can go inboard of the clutch bracket but if you have a replacement (larger) it may catch on the tank and have to be twisted/located differently. I had a similar situation with my ES2. George
