Handlebar switch internal screw

Can Anyone tell me the size and type of screws which secure the inner parts of the Lucas alloy handlebar switches on the 71-73 Commando

Fred,

I have a pair of Lucas alloy switches I had laying about now on my model 50.

They are from about the time of your Commando and the screw size on these are 2BA. Worth trying one to see if yours are the same. The four fixing screws on on each switch corner was 3/16 Whit.

For all I know things may have changed over the years.

Good luck.

Thanks Neil

I managed to get the old ones out and it turns out that they are UNC 4-40 X 5/16. I purchased new ones and they fit perfectly.

Thanks for the quick response

Hi Fred,

Glad you got sorted. Mine must have been pre Commando. Sorry, I should have thought about yours being original and therefore UNC.

But they did stick mostly with Whitworth on the engine. I have found UNC and Whitworth to be interchangeable, just the thread angle slightly different.
