Gearbox weight

23 lbs. approx. with kickstarter and gearlever attached and full of oil.

I recently shipped a Commando gearbox up north using My Hermes. With heavy duty packing it weighed about 12.5Kg dry.

I was very impressed by this delivery company. The delivery cost, was quickly calculated on their website. The form filling, payment and printing of posting labels only took a few minutes. Finally, I headed off to the local hermes pick-up point ......... my corner-shop Coop and dropped off the parcel for collection. The charge was £13 including insurance and the gearbox was delivered 3 days after being collected. Parcel Force wanted to charge far more for the same item but did promise to deliver within 48 hours.

For my next parcel, I tried using DPD. The online form filling took nearly two hours to complete because each time I made a small mistake I got red-flagged and then sent back to the start line. Very frustrating!!!

After this I have regularly used My Hermes. They are good value for money and there is no queing at a Post Office.

Hi Dan.......you need to read the small print very carefully with My Hermes. At first glance it does seem, on the main menu, to suggest that motor parts are prohibited. But ........... further down the page in the Ts & Cs you will find that they actually say as follows .......

Prohibited

• Vehicle Parts - Parts which are over our weight limit (15kg) or that are outside of our dimension limits.We also exclude parts that contain liquids.

I have always clearly labeled my parcels as 'Historic Vehicle Parts' and never had any deliveries refused.
