Fuel pipe

I have been a happy owner of a 961 cafe racer for just over two years, last week when starting up my bike, I notice that the fuel line had ruptured (covering my engine in petrol). Having got in contact with Norton, I have been informed that a new fuel line will cost £43.08, I must admit that I think this is a bit steep for approx 10cm of hose and two jubliee clips!!

I will also say that I have never had a fuel line split like this before.

Anybody got any thoughts on how I should proceed.

Halfords fuel injector pipe - very cheap and doesn't split. I use it for all my fuel lines. I would be a bit forceful with Norton about this - you may be out of guarantee but there is a potential product liability issue here.

Hi looking at the photo it looks like its been rubbing against something causing a flat along the pipe possibly thinning the outer wall. but having said that it still shouldn't have leaked because it still has the reinforced inner pipe. it looks like the clips have been crimped to tight.to me. perhaps its not fit for purpose.

I have had a couple of fuel pipes leak. Once I found out the problem was Ethanol in petrol I made sure I used fuel without it such a 4* leaded and BP Ultimate (Not in SW England) and not had one leak since.
