Five riders required

I've recently contacted 'MSV trackdays' regarding discounts available for group bookings at a trackday next year and would require a minimum of 5 riders to qualify. The bigger the group the greater the discount.

A year or two ago I was looking to get a sufficient number of Norton riders interested so as to be cost effective to book a whole circuit for the entire day, but unfortunately numbers fell well short. So I've come up with the idea of a group booking.

Anyone who is interested please send a personal message via the pic in the top right corner of this post. It'll be for next year during the warmer months - possibly Cadwell or Oulton Park, or which ever track is most convenient.

I'll post a reminder early next year,

Regards, Simon.

P.S Any size Nortons welcome but they do have to be road legal bikes.

P.P.S Also one piece or zip together two piece leathers required.

Hi Simon,

You can pencil me in for Cadwell if you can get the numbers up.

Kind Regards

Andrew

Nice one Andrew, you're pencilled in. Thanks for getting the ball rolling - just need minimum of three more riders and we'll have a track day with Nortons thundering around.

Hi Simon, please include me on a list for the cadwell msv trackday, health (me and the bike!) permitting, I am assuming that this is for the late September Classic track day.

Being a bit of a wuss? - I usually do this each year and find the novice class is perfectly suited to me and my old 650ss, but I do take a thruxton replica t120 as well!(I can hear the comments already!!)

Thank you Terry Odlin

Terry,

Thanks for getting in touch and putting your name down, nice one! The Classic track day could be the one to go for, although I've done a non-specific track day last year where my Mk3 was the oldest by a long way but still managed to embarass a few riders on modern machines - great fun!

Only need a minimum of 2 more and we are underway!

Definitely interested if it's Cadwell

Hi Mark,

I'm for Cadwell too so it gets the vote by a majority, Cadwell it is then. Still need at least one more rider please.

Some track footage from a recent Classic bike trackday at Cadwell Park. Definitely an imbalance regarding Jap v Brit bikes which needs addressing and putting your Norton on track will help to stamp out those smelly two strokes!

A bit of trackday info for anyone who was wondering how the day takes shape.

7.30am - 8.30am (approx) track briefing and signing in - both of which are compulsory. Scrutineering starts early so there's enough time to get your bike checked before the first session.

9.00am first group out on track for sighting lap and first session (15 - 20mins). Finishing times vary, but the last classic day I attended finished around about 6.00pm, I think.

The rider chooses which group they wish to be in, Novice, Intermediate or Experienced are typical options. All three are a reference to number of trackdays attended and ability - not how long you've been riding on the road.

The day continues with the three groups taking it in turns to go out on track. Typically every hour through the day you'll be out on track for 20mins. Giving you time to check the bike, cup of tea and to chat with the other riders in between sessions. The next session comes around surprisingly quick. There's a break for lunch and you don't have to do all the sessions or do the full session time if you don't want to.

Cadwell Park has very good shower/toilet and cafeteria facilities and camping is included in the price (approx £120 depending on numbers and event). Plenty of local B&B's available.

It's a great day out, whizzing round the circuit at your own pace. Instructors are out on track acting as travelling marshalls to ensure people keep safe. Sometimes you'll be amongst a train of riders peeling through the corners - other times you'll seemingly have the track to yourself , wondering where all the bikes have gone.

If it's a Classic day we go for then I'm sure the bikes do not have to be road legal although they do have to pass scrutineering inc. noise test.

It would be nice to see as many Nortons on track as possible,

Regards, Simon.

See the benefits of group booking.

You could always see if you can/would like to join in with the Morini Riders Club track day at Cadwell.Usually held in June. It is popular with the Velo fellows and even a Scott or two, in addition to around 40 Morinis. A much more relaxed day with a lot less Japanese missiles around. I think that there is a 120 bike limit on the day, with usual groupings.

Contact Paul Emmerson via this link if it makes sense to you.

Hi George,

Thanks for the information. There are a few options to choose from. I think the Classic bike day end of September is a good one to go for as there's less chance of it clashing with another event. But I'll go with what the majority wants. Don't worry about the Jap bikes, they're not all missiles. Fancy joining us?

Another consideration is to do:

http://www.beezumph.com/

I've done it a few times, I was on my Dommie this year. A great classic bike event and not all of the bikes have one too many cylinders. Race bikes are allowed too.

Hi Mark,

I've thought about the Beezumph as an option. The way I see it is we could do

1) a 'standard' track day as a group with discount and benefits (e.g a garage) where we'll more than likely be the only classic bikes there. The advantage here is the 961 owners would be able to join in - but no race bikes.

2) one of the classic trackday events where we'd sign up as group and get a discount and other benefits (garage possibly) depending on numbers. Race bikes ok but no 961's.

3) an owners club track day e.g Morini, Beezumph, not sure if they do group bookings but race bikes and 961's ok at the Beezumph, and possibly ok at the Morini day as well.

Ideally want to keep this as simple as possible. I suggest we take a vote when, then any other riders who wish to come along will know when and where it will be. The 'where' already seems to be Cadwell, so just need to decide when.

The MSV Classic day, end of September is the one I'd choose.

Hi, Simon, and everyone else that was interested in the MSV track day in September,2016, I have to apologise for this but I had forgotten about the planned club assemble for 5 riders and have already booked it privately.

The event has not been publically announced as far as I know, but will go ahead on Friday, the 23rd of September and MSV are taking telephone bookings, the cost for the day is£105. Bookings can be made by calling 0843 453 3000. I think you get 6 or 7 outings for your money, and of course the usual rules apply regarding license, leathers, full face helmets etc.

Hope you can still get there,

Terry
