Exhaust pipe sealing ring

Forums

In the 1960's and 70's when I played around with ES2's and Mod 50's, I used to thread the sealing ring onto the pipe and have it between the flared end and the threaded ring. Now re living my youth with a 52 ES2 I notice in the parts list, something I never had, that the ring is put in the head first. Which is right, does it matter? John

Hi John

I'm fairly sure the gasket should go in first to seal against the flange on the pipe,If you do it the other way round then you will only be relying on the threads to make a gas tight seal, and if not removed for a while could bein danger of damagingthe threads in the head.

Didn't you make front brakes etc in the 70s? (ha ha!)
