I actually find working on the electrics very satisfying. As long as you take things methodically and have decent tools (eg a reliable multimeter) it's usually just a matter of logic and patience.

Hi George,

I put that on to enable members to find it easier. I had a look on the Amazon site and it has a 'preview' which gives an index and then the first handfull of pages.

Based on the index alone I think this could be a very useful book. Even though I have been working on car and motorcycle electrics for many years, I think I might buy it as it wil probably help me when trying to explain to others.

(Edit) Sorry that sounds a bit arrogant, what I really mean is I tend to understand things in my own sweet way and trying to explain this to others can be difficult. This book gives a good grounding of the priciples but I have only read the first few pages.

I agree wholeheartedly, read a report by Ian Kerr in a VMCC mag early last year and put it on the christmas wish list, very very helpful to the extent that having believed 'lectrickery was a dark art practised by wizards I am fast becoming an apprentice to 'em! James Smith has a couple of early AMC machines and sometimes posts on the AMC club forum.kind regards

George please thank your wife.I've just received my copy of the manual. Excellent I don't know how I've managed all this time without it.

Very timely topic as I am about to rewire a classic bike. Read this and bought the book, not cheap but excellent value. I have now got a better understanding of the "black art" and so will benefit in rewiring and fault finding. Defiinatly recommend, I am sure those with some knowledge will gain more as well as novices.

I have just received a copy of the Electrics Manual. What a book. I ordered on line from W.H.Smith as they have a better employee record than Amazon and it was only a quid or so more

I think there is an error on page 15. Under the bottom triangle, the equationR = V Ã? R should be R = V Ã? I.

Good shout George. I have only just spotted this thread, and immediately done a search, ordering it from a prolific ebay bookseller, at what seems a very fair price.
