Are the engine mounting brackets on the solid and swinging arm (pre-featherbed) frame interchangeable? They are shown in the parts book as quite different numbers but appear to do the same job with the same engine block. George

Thanks for that, Richard.…
Thanks for that, Richard. The reason I'd queried it was 'cos on the parts drawing the plates look quite different. The rigid frame plate has 4 bolt holes in it and is fitted with a separate plate "cap" whilst the s/arm version has 5 or 6 bolts holes (difficult to see) and is not fitted with a cap. I think my '55 s/arm model is fitted with the wrong plates which in turn is causing problems getting a side stand to fit (separate thread!) George

Hi George,
As far as I am aware the only change to the front engine plates during the '50s was in the Autumn of 1957 when the new 1958 ES2/Mod 50 models were announced and these had new frames with tubes instead of the traditional cast engine cradle. This is the only reason I can think there would be a difference, unless I have missed something? Of course the Model 7 and 77 will be very different as is the side stand bracket.
Regards, Richard.
