ECU control light

From new till my bike went back to the factory to have warranty work carriedout - one of the items was a problem with the idiot lights being affected by water - the ECU control light always lit up when the ignition was switched on. Since then it does not light up. The wiring to the lights has been replacedand a"marine specification" switch fitted. I queried this with the factory and was told that it should not light up and all is as it should be. I am very sceptical about the answer. Anyone like to comment?

Hi Dave

According to the Owners Handbook it should light up when the ignition is switched on. I have never seen this warning light illuminated since I have my bike! It seems to melogic that it should do so to indicate that it is working...

Thanks Raphael,

When I picked the bike up from the factory I was told it should light up and nothing was mentioned at the first service so I had always presumed it was working correctly - with every other bike or car I have had the light has always come on with the ignition. Maybe the faultwith the switch/wiring was causing it to light up, but it is good to know that other bikes are the same. Norton haveinformed me that the Owners handbook is incorrect in this respect and will be revised.

Would someone else mind to check, Raphael is now not sure if the light on his bike did at one time light up.

Thanks

Hi David

Mine does not light at all and to be honest I doubt if it is connected, my bike a June 2011 Sport SVA bike is fitted with an Omex Ecu which as far as I am aware does not support diagnostic fault codes but by a flashing Led on the Ecu module. Your bike I guess being a later euro 3 bike may have a different Ecu but I doubt it. Have a look at the Omex website, your Ecu is in the seat hump behind the fuse box.

Best
