Easter camping weekend on the Commando

Iâve just used my Commando for itâs first camping trip this year. Riding to the Four Alls Public House, Binton Bridge, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. I camped with the Mayflower MCC where during the Easter weekend 83 club members had signed in. Enough people to make the event a rally, in my opinion. It was really a shake down run for me as Iâve recently fitted a set of low level exhausts and lowered my Krauser luggage set. I notice a witness mark on the swinging arm, showing itâs touching one of the mounting brackets so some adjustment is now necessary. The ride on Good Friday was mostly in the rain thatâs why you will see how dirty my new exhaust system is in the photo, but the rest of the weekend was dry. I rode non-motorway there and back riding over 300 miles during the weekend, all went well so now the bike is all ready for the summer rides and rallies. I now look forward to meeting up with NOC rally goer friends in Wales and Ireland, some I know well and some I'm yet to meet.Kind regards, Alan Throssell (Essex Branch secretary)Attachments april15warwickshire-jpg

Is that a Vango Force 10 tent in the background? That is the same tent that i use. Although i have been thinking of getting one of these new lightweight thingys that hopefully pack a bit smaller. Anyone got any reccomendations?

Hi Peter, They are the best tents especially for winter and bad weather. Only disadvantage is their pack size and weight. There are several different styles and designs of modern lightweight tents so its a personal preference, alloy poles tend to be better than fiberglass but they both have their weaknesses'. Nothing lasts as long as a Vango Force Ten (if its properly looked after).

A new MK4 Force 10 is around £370 on amazon so that make it a 328 fold increase on what Chris paid for his.I paid 6k for my Mk 3 last year and that is a six fold increase over its original purchase price. Maybe we should be buying up old tents....!

Hi Alan what make of screen have you got? I have just fitted Krauser panniers to my bike, I had to make the fittings myself so will have to check they do not rub.Your bike looks nice, Chris

Hi Chris thanks for your comment.Itâs a Givi universal screen, it mounts on the headlamp brackets via the indicator stems, I donât know a model number as I bought it second hand.Regards, Alan
