My 88SScame with one 26mm Concentric for some baffling reason. It was remarkably gutless in my case. A single 28mm transformed it (and two are better again, but obviously that's not what you want). I think engines prefer an inlet tract that gets a bit narrow as it runs rather than starts narrow and then widens out a bit.

I wonder if one possible reason for my bikes poor performance on one 26mm carb have been that my bike also came without the inlet passageway sleeves. So the inlet galleries were bigger than 26mm (maybe 28 or 29?) so maybe if you do have the sleeves or if the earlier heads had narrower inlets (did they?) perhaps it will be OK.

I think the main jet was 220, with No 3 slide and needle in centre. I doubt if the carb retailer willknow since they were never fittedby the works (but worth a try I suppose).

Last time I looked there isn't a chart on this web site listing carb settings for odd usages - like concentrics on earlier bikes - but there must be a few users about who have found out these things.
