Just a general question.
I am in the process of preparing my two tone deluxe rear enclosure for painting, it is also two tone on the underneath. My question is, did they come out of the factory two tone. Cannot see the point of doing two colours underneath, which you cannot see unless you get on your knees and stick your head up.

Deluxe panel colours
The back of the side panels is one colour. The rear enclosure (bathtub) are two tone underneath, mine is. Cannot tell if this was original or repainted at a later date. It just seems strange that Norton would make a nice two tone paint job on something you would rarely see.

I have several orriginal panels that are red and Dove . On the back they are red with some paint runs of dove. Done in late 1959 for the 1960 year . Painting routines may have changed as at first you could get the 88 or 99 in a range of colours but they soon changed to standardising the colours Interestingly the headlamp shells came from Lucas already painted ,which is why they bleached to a completely different colour in time.Different paint !.
