The last I heard they had reached Scotland but the rider of an X75 Hurricane had run out of fuel! Not surprising really on that size tank. Can you imagine trying to ride 1000 miles in 24 hours on aweenytank?
So, could this be done by a group of Nortons?

Well done Roland, you deserve a lot of credit for doing that on a cafe racer!Hello David,last year in September, just 3 days after returning from the Manx GP,I attendeda British Bike Meeting organised by the Hearts Owners Club in Italy www.http://heartsownersmotorcycleclub.blogspot.co.at/2012/09/trasimeno-12-le-prime-foto.htmltogether with Andreas Pfeiffer and his wife Monika. The Rally site was at Lago Trasimeno near Rom. After a fantastic weekend withonly a handful of sleep we startet our journey back to Austria on Sunday morning at 10:00 am. We both had to go to work on Monday,so we needed toride the whole distance in one daywithout using the motorway. Happily the weather was fine and without bigger problems (once one of my carburettors jumped off his rubber manifold) we arrived in our hometownson Monday morning at about 2:00 am. We completet more than 1200 kilometres (about 750 miles)within 16 hours, It was a pain in the ass riding the wholedistance on a Caferacer but after about the half of the distance I had no more feeling in my backside. You can imagine going to work on Monaywas not the funniest thing to do.All in all Andreas and I managed to pull more than 10.000 kilometers on the speedometers of each of our Nortons.I am not sure if I would doit every year but I candefinitively tell you it is possible to doit.

When I was young and fit, I rode a Guzzi T3 from Hannover to Cambridge in one go, 650 miles and had had quite enought at that point. Funnily enough, a more recent 600 mile day on the Domi was less tiring. Best of luck to you young and keen folks - being old and decrepit I am happy to bumble around at near legal speeds and enjoy the view in no great rush.
