RE 1951 ES2
I have wear on my clutch plates and no idea what I should be looking for. Nowhere in my old 40s and 50s manuals does it give a precise minimum measurement. I get a variety of measurements; on some plates the friction pads about .050 and others around .040 proud.
My feeling is that I have some time left in the clutch plates
the clutch sprocket friction-inserts measure about 6.4mm thick and are proud on both sides of the sprocket face where they bear against the friction and backing plates. These inserts pop out easily so I would replace them on principle but I've not found any replacements for sale.
Are these friction inserts expected to last as long as the clutch sprocket ?
Last, the roller cage and rollers are not too expensive. is it common practice to replace them automatically or are the expected to have a long life ?

I couldn't find clutch inserts for my AMC clutch so resorted to an idea by a chap from Australia and bonded a couple of tractor pto inserts onto my chainwheel with isopon, has worked now for 6 yrs, however I have since found that RGM and, I think Feked, do supply clutch corks
