clutch

Hi all,

I have a 1929/1930 Sturmey Archer 3 speed LS type gearbox with the taper main shaft with a single central spring clutch.

I'm having terrible trouble getting the clutch to even operate. I can get it so that I can engage gear but with clutch slip and if I adjust so that I dint have slip I cant get it into gear.

I don't have any history on the clutch as it was an auto jumble purchase years ago. so as far as I know it could be the wrong spring and so on.

is there anyone who has experience with this type clutch that would be kind enough o help me out with identification and some advise please?

I must confess at this point the machine is not a Norton but a 1930 model90 P&M.
