I'm checking the cost of having a new steel side stand made for my '55 ES2. It might bring the not cost down if he made more than one. They seem to be like hens' teeth so any one interested? It's just the stand - not the bracket - and it's the type where the bracket fits to the two front engine bolts. George

Thanks for that, Neil and sorry for the delayed response. The website kept indicating "no responses yet" so I didn't look. If I go down this route the NOC could certainly have the original stand which is what I'm using as the template. It merely has a broken lug where the retaining bolt goes through.

OK, George. Might be the route to take then. Perhaps you could talk to the spares administrators?
I sent the administrators the drawings for the 57 pre F/bed singles engine plates but they said they needed the actual parts to copy, hence two accurate copies made. (Thanks Ian)

Looking forward to it, George. I will be with overseas visitors, but the one on a Norton! Hope the metal badges will be made for this year?

George, if you are feeling generous while being concerned with the absence of certain parts and 50's singles most certainly a case in point: Why not have two made and donate the other to club spares on the understanding that it is used as a template to copy when a request is made. You would need to confirm yours works perfectly first.
I did this with my 57 Model 50 engine plates, Ian in Australia had made for me, he had two sets made, one for the club as a template. This was after eight years of searching. That should never happen again.
The 57 side stand will be different to earlier models but also very rare. I was lucky, Dale Middlehurst had one, just missing the foot to be welded on. We really do need to get a grip of the 50's pre F/bed spares situation, it's not good at all!
