Atlas crankshaft

Hello all. I have two crankshafts. I'm wondering if it would be OK to swap over thedrive side cheek? Trying to make one good crank from two knackered ones. Not sure if this is permissible. TTFN Jack

I can remember back in the old days a firm selling reground timing side and drive side cranks. If all I had was two knackered cranks but could make one out of them I would give it a go.

Check inside the drive side for a stress raiser directly in line with the junction of journal and cheek, Get it removed. Once pistons and rods sorted get the crank balanced. Some motors reasonably smooth, some horrible, no consistancy, well worth the trouble.

Marlow Bucks Bob. Still not too sure this swap will work, but am having the bitsa crank reground to -30, so as long as the shafts are in line...

You are in luck - Basset Down Engineering in Basset Woodlands, Lambourne, Berks, about 45 minutes from you. They do tend be highly recommended.

Well that didn't work. When I went to bolt the two cheeks together on the big dowel for regrinding, the bolt holes don't all line up. So looks like I have to use one crank or t'other, but not bits of both.
