Hello All

Ive got a 99ss and although its in good condition i wonder if its had restore previously i think early 90's .

can the club supply build details for the bike to show what colours it was delivered in , and also mine has chrome chain cases and guards i also wonder if these have been changed , would the club be able to unearth that level of detail?

The bike is silver with black frame and chrome guards and chain case , its like the previous owner has tried for the 650s look?

thanks

Hi Greg, Chrome guards and primary were optional extras for many years and some dealers ordered these on stock machines to apeal to prospective customers. I was riding in the 1960's and have to say that any time I saw such items (not often) I assumed the owner was a bit of a tart!. Not very PC!.

Thanks Robert

I saw reference to the chrome parts in the parts books and did wonder if some folk went for that style from new.

I was going to try and get the build records from the NOC and i did wonder if the records went down to the details of the colours of guards etc when it was new?

cheers

I have a 99SS and the records did not include this kind of detail. I have no idea what mine was originally and it was like yours. It is now two-tone grey as it should be and I opted for painted guards and chaincase cover, not chrome.

A friend of me once advised me to have your bike for you and just enjoy it! Don't get caught up in the politics of your bike being historical to the day. Some clever dick will break their neck to annoy you after your hours of research and spending a fortune on a "correct" piece.

Just a thought.

Good luck

Kevin
