Hi everyone, gonna do the first start up on the new carbs with the 650ss at weekend
quick question regarding setting the throttle stop screws for idle,
do you go in with them till you just see the slide move ever so slightly
or best going in all the way then back out a turn got about 1.5 turns of effect on the slide with them
premier concentrics
Cheers

From the Haynes manual:
Twin Carburettors
With the left hand spark plug removed, set the right hand carburettor as above (below in this case!). Replace the left hand plug and remove the right hand plug, set the left hand carburettor as (below). On replacing both plugs and starting the engine, the slow running will probably be too fast; the speed can be lowered by slackening each throttle stop screw an identical amount.
Single Carburettor
With the engine running and at normal operating temperature, commence by screwing the throttle stop screw inwards a quarter of a turn at a time until the machine runs at a fast tick over speed. Adjust the pilot air screw slowly either in or out until the fastest running speed is achieved. Unscrew the throttle stop screw until the desired tick over speed is obtained, and again check the pilot air screw so that the fastest running speed is achieved. The normal setting for the pilot air screw is in the region of one and a half turns out from the fully closed position. The mixture is enriched by turning this screw INWARDS because it meters the supply of air and not fuel.
Hope this helps. Looking forward to getting my SS assembled to this stage!
